Spectrum Water provides dewatering boxes and solids-separation equipment for industrial, municipal, environmental, wastewater, and dredging applications.

Standard dewatering boxes rely on basic gravity drainage through filter media or screens. Spectrum's Turbo Phase Separator is engineered to improve that process with greater internal filter surface area, shorter water travel distance, and better handling of difficult wet solids.

Large-capacity sludge dewatering container designed with a permanent, reusable filter system instead of disposable filter media. A practical option for wastewater, dredging, and industrial sludge applications where reduced filter replacement, lower disposal costs, and simple solids handling are priorities.

High-performance dewatering unit engineered to improve solids separation and support efficient sludge handling in wastewater, industrial, and environmental applications. Ideal for projects where improved drainage and operational flexibility are important.

Turbo Phase Separator with Dump Stand

The Spectrum Turbo Phase Separator with dump stand is a gravity-based sludge dewatering system designed to separate liquids from solids efficiently while simplifying material handling and unloading.

The Turbo Phase Separator provides a large internal filter surface area, helping reduce dewatering time and improve drainage performance.

End Dump Fast Flow Trailer

Open top trailers with recessed drainage screens that keep dewatering the load in transit, so water is still leaving the material on the way to the gate.

1–5 Cu. Yd. Fixed Filter Hopper

A compact dewatering hopper designed for smaller sludge, slurry, and wet-solids applications. Liquid drains through the filter system while solids remain in the hopper for easier handling, transport, dumping, or reuse.

A practical option for wastewater, dredging, process solids recovery, and other applications where simple gravity dewatering is needed without using a larger roll-off container.

Standard versus engineered

Basic Gravity Drainage for Routine Wet-Solids Handling

A standard dewatering box is a practical choice for many sludge, slurry, sediment, and wet-solids applications. Material is loaded into the container, liquid drains through filter media or a screen, and solids remain in the box for handling, transport, or disposal.

This approach is simple and effective, but performance can be limited by available drainage area, filter loading, debris, solids characteristics, and how far liquid must travel before exiting the box.

  • Best suited for straightforward gravity dewatering applications.
  • Performance depends heavily on solids type, loading rate, filter media, and drainage path.
  • May require more time when handling fine solids, heavy sludge, debris, or difficult-to-pump material.

Custom boxes are engineered in Spectrum's own shop, with each unit modeled in SolidWorks to confirm payload, axle loading and drainage performance before fabrication starts. Optional heating coils, corrosion-resistant liners and vacuum assist cover the streams a standard unit will not handle.

FAQs

Can I rent dewatering boxes rather than buy them?

Yes — the fleet is available for short-term rental, outright sale, or build-to-spec fabrication. Rental is the usual answer for a one-off cleanout or a dredging project; purchase makes sense once a stream runs continuously.

What sizes are available?

From 1–5 cu. yd. fixed filter hoppers up to 40 cu. yd. roll-off filters. The 20 cu. yd. Turbo Phase Separator and the 30 cu. yd. Permanator are the two most requested units.

What is the difference between a Permanator and a standard box?

The filter system. A Permanator uses a permanent, reusable filter rather than disposable filter media, which on a high-volume repeat duty removes what would otherwise be the dominant consumable cost.

Can boxes be customized for my stream?

Yes, in Spectrum’s own shop. Options include heating coils, corrosion-resistant liners, vacuum assist, dryer decks, specialty screen cloth and integral polymer injection. Each box is modeled in SolidWorks to confirm payload, axle loading and drainage performance before steel is cut.

Do you supply the crews and polymer too?

If you want them. Spectrum can supply boxes alone, or run the whole dewatering operation as a service — crews, polymer chemistry from the in-house lab, boxes and haul-off — under a single contract.
