Lamella plate packs
The settling area of a basin, in the footprint of a tank
Inclined stainless plates divide the clarifier into many shallow settling zones stacked on top of each other. Solids only have to fall a short distance to reach a plate, then slide down it into the hopper — so effective settling area multiplies without the floor area following.
For a retrofit into an existing building, or any site where the process demands a bigger clarifier than the space allows, this is usually the only workable answer.

Clarifiers and integrated DAF-clarifier trains are fabricated in Spectrum's shop, which is what makes build-to-spec practical rather than exotic. Custom geometry, materials and drive arrangements are available for duties where no catalog unit fits — and the process chemists who specify the chemistry are in the same building as the welders.

Clarifier or DAF — which do I need?
It depends on whether your solids sink or float. A clarifier uses gravity, so it suits dense, settleable solids. A DAF floats low-density material, oil and grease that will never settle. Plants running both streams often need both, and Spectrum packages them as a single train.
What is a lamella plate settler and when is it better?
Inclined stainless plate packs that give each unit of floor area many times its equivalent settling area. It is the answer when the process needs a large clarifier and the site has no room for one — a retrofit into an existing building, for example.
How much faster are pre-engineered units?
Considerably. Field-erected clarifiers are a construction project; pre-engineered sizes ship as equipment and arrive with the drive, scum skimmer and walkway already installed, so what remains on site is setting and connecting rather than building.
Can I get one on rental?
Yes. Mobile trailer-mounted clarifiers are available for bypass, contingency and remote-site work, and the same units can be bought outright or built to spec if the duty turns out to be permanent.
